Basically any game has a demo, so w/e type of game you like.
Age of Empires III
Call Of Duty
Command and Conquer 3
FarCry (cider port)
Enemy Territory Quake Wars
Quake IV
Tiger Woods 08
Madden 08

Just look around. Macs aren't gaming machines, and when you look for free ones it's worse. There are some good quality games for Mac.

I've got a ton of Ambrosia games, as well as Frenzic, Starcraft and Spore.

Uhhh... the only free games I have installed are N, Phun, and Quinn...

Age of Empires III demo runs great on my 2.4Ghz Macbook (2 GB of RAM). I have had no problems with it.

Quake Live (http://www.quakelive.com) looks interesting. Currently in beta phase (no Mac beta version) and will be 100% free when officially released. Is based on the ID Tech 3 engine (Quake III) so it shouldn't be too taxing on a Macbook.

I play Age of Empires (full game) on my Macbook 2.2Ghz with 4Gb RAM. Runs fine, but I do turn down some of the shading options etc to speed up scrolling around the maps.

The Macbook isn't really made for hard core gaming due to the graphics card installed, hence the limited choice (especially if you are after free games).

Games cost money bub, the best you're going to do with Free is demos.

Seriously. It sort of boggles the mind that you would expect a ton of free games to be floating around. Welcome to the internet, where "free game" goes by another name: "pirate".

As somebody who used to make freeware games and is a member of 2 large communities where people churn out good quality free games on a regular basis - hi.

There are tons of free games. Just not so many for OSX.

Taking a random guess here but are you also the kind of person who thinks that anybody with BitTorrent automatically makes them a pirate?

Not so much. BitTorrent was created to legally share large files over the net. It was not intended to be a method of piracy.

I wasn't criticizing piracy - that would be a mite hypocritical ;). As someone who has been gaming on macs since Prince of Persia, the original simcity etc to me "game" means something substantial. No offense towards free ware etc, but I was thinking more of a retail type, large game.

Hi the Age of Empires III Demo runs perfectly on Macbook ( 2Ghz Santa Rosa - 1GB Memory )

After 3 Hours gets bit Laggy but not noticeable at all, would buy it if it was cheaper than it is at £40
