Problem with OS X Clock Freezing

For the second or third time now the time in the menu bar freezes. I also can't use the sound icon. When I move the cursor over either, I get the spinning beach ball. I am running Mac OS 10.2.8. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Thanks in advance!

It is porbably because you are running 10.2.8. That was the infamous update with tons of bugs. If you have the original Mac OS X cd's that came with your copmuter, you might be able to downgrade.
