iChat "status" message

hey all,

In the few days I've had my new 12" PB I've grown to like iChat. But I'm confused about it's status function. I had put up a custom away message, but when a friend IMed me, the away response wasn't sent. She was on AIM and said that my screenname on her list was listed with an away message icon, so why didn't the response get sent to her? Thanks for the help.

iChat does not return your away message to the sender. Don't know why.

this has never worked properly in ichat and theres no eta when it will show up and work properly

There is a program called iChat Auto reply (iCAR for short)

It snaps right into the preferences of iChat where you can set various reply options for when you're away.

Why it's not a default reply, I'm as stumped as everyone else.
