Little Big Planet, Bioshock and Far Cry 2 all released on the same day. What are they thinking?

I probably won't buy all three at the same time, but I have no idea where to start.

Haha, ya. I'll be buying Far Cry and LBP on that day. Won't be too much fun at the store (but when I get home.... :D).

You shouldn't have any money for these other games, not when Dead Space Deluxe-uber-take-our-money-edition is coming out this month. :o

Dead Space is on my radar, but I will carefully wait for the reviews first. I'm a little scared that it might fall into the mediocrity trap...but we shall see!

I'd be tempted for Far Cry 2 but it probably won't run so well on my iMac.

is Bioshock budget priced? crap, the 360 version is like $15 at EB used so if you pay $60 for it, you are getting hosed. I would leave it for last anyway, it's a play it once then don't play again. The actual mechanics of the game are average but the story/atmosphere are really great, however that doesn't help replay value too much.

Yeah... I know about that stuff. I would love to have it, but its not really important. I'm sure there will be more to follow after launch.

I don't know... it could ;).
Min specs:
-Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista
-CPU: Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, Pentium D 2.66 Ghz, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or better
-Memory: 1 GB
Hard Drive Space: 12 GB of free space (ouch)
Graphics Hardware: NVidia 6800 or ATI X1650 or better; must support Pixel Shader 3.0

What's this super expensive edition?

Haha, ya. It really isn't that great but I have been looking forward to LBP for a long time, and when the beta gets taken away..... that will be a long 10 days..

You should know that BioShock has already fell into that mediocre trap. :D :p Focus groups pushed it in there... :(

But if you've "never" played a Shock, BS is fun like a Disney ride. :(

I read Gamasutra's Dead Space interview and it helped to squelch my fears about this game. They actually understand that being scared is derived by something feeling real, something BioShock failed on miserably.

They also took a step in the right direction with the inventory/menu system, where as BS threw the inventory window out the window, in favor of making the game more accessible for the masses.

Those procs are SOOOOO slow when compared to the Intel Core series, which are very inexpensive now days. :)

This is the super expensive edition, I heard it includes a Space Shuttle. (http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=ea&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&productID=106790800)

Nope! CPU is fine but 12gb free space? I've only given XP 32gb :D and my 60gb external drive is full after Valve hosted them Source mods.
Also X1600. Planning on getting a maxed out 24" iMac so all games after TF2 are on the to-buy list.

I feel sorry for Bioshock and Far Cry 2

Why? Too many other games that are going to be better? Well... I'm pretty excited for FC2. Just a bit more for LBP. But still, both will be great games.

stainlessliquid
Oct 6, 2008, 09:46 PM
LBP is one of the most hyped games of the year, which includes GTA4 and MGS4. FC2 and old ass Bioshock are going to get crushed, they should have gone with a week earlier.

spyker3292
Oct 6, 2008, 09:51 PM
Well ya... I don't think Bioshock will do too great. Far Cry 2 should do well. But LBP... considering how hard it was to get a beta key.... that should sell like crap :o.

stainlessliquid
Oct 6, 2008, 09:55 PM
So because sites run out of 2000 beta keys in a couple minutes it means the game is going to sell like crap? Huh?

2nyRiggz
Oct 7, 2008, 07:37 AM
If Bioshock is sold at a reasonable price($39.99) then I don't think it will do too bad.

This month belongs to three games.....Dead Space, Little Big Planet and Far Cry 2.

Fallout 3 is probably more hyped than all those ;) well maybe not LBP but it's gonna sell better.

Dead Space looks interesting. Another Prey or better? (I liked Prey). No coop though. :(

farcry 2 isn't very hyped, maybe a little more than far cry 1. I don't expect it to sell any better than a standard "good" game, dead space is more hyped and should easily beat it. LBP and fallout3 will be in a different league though. Fallout will give lbp a run for it's money and probably win.

I had a great time with Oblivion so I have high hopes for Fallout 3.

it's also on 3 platforms and has Bethesda pedigree going for it.

Hopefully it's WAY better than Prey.

If not, I'll be disappointed to say the least.

DS has a few things going for it, It's not really a FPS from what I can tell, it's similar to RE4 in gameplay and tatical shooting, and it seems to have a System Shock feel going for it.

This is the kind of game that probably wouldn't work co-op. I think having my friend in the game would make it less scary. I really hope this is one of those rare games that can encompass me in its world and scare the crap out of me in the processes, if not, hopefully it's at least as good as RE4.

I was thinking to get Legendary, Midnight Club, and maybe the new NFS since it looks better than the night time only ricer race game it was. I think I may just hold out on the latter two though and wait till next year when I am sure I can pick them up for cheap or free.

LittleBigPlanet is the only must buy I have so far, though Mirror's Edge is almost on that list. I have gamefly so a lot of these games I'm going to try and just rent through there... that $60 price tag is a killer. If it wasn't so high I'd be buying a lot more games.
