Bootcamp demands OSX journaled extended

Awhile back I made a Vista partition, shortly after I deleted the partition. I now want to make a new partition, but when I go through bootcamp to allocate space, it gives me an error saying i need to have a "Single Mac OSX Journal Extended drive.

The problem is, my drive shows up as Journal Extended. I would really like to not have to reformat my drive, as I do not have the CD's for all of my programs. Is there any way around this? I do have an external HD if necessary.

Boot Camp Assistant cant partition your hard drive as data blocks are in the way. to do this without reinstalling you will need to purchase iDefrag and do a quick on-line defrag (allows defragmentation while the disk is in use).

nope. its a small price to pay to keep you from reformatting.

Bootcamp wants your drive to be partitioned with a functional GUID partition table and with the whole disk in HFS+ format. If it finds there is enough disk space it will allow you to make a Bootcamp partition. If you have anything else but the above described it will not work.

Your first chance is to delete anything you may have added in terms of additional partitions. You can do this with disk utility using the minus button in the partitioning section. The main OS X partition will not be effected if you have at some stage added another partition. If there are data in that additional partition you obviously need to back them up.

If you have just one HFS+ partition and Bootcamp still tells you to re partition it is highly advisable to do so. Usually you have not enough free space or your partition table is wrong or corrupted. Make a backup and use the OS X install DVD with disk utility to repartition our disk. Make sure it is big enough and use the GUID option.
