greetings
i am looking to delete files in my itunes folder that are not listed in the itunes library.
ive seen applications that will delete aliases in the library for songs which do no t exist - and this isnt what im looking for
most thankful for any help

maybe you can just change the default itunes folder from the pref, and it might just move only the songs listed in the library to a new folder.
I'm not sure if this will work though. do it on your own risk.

This is the reason why everyone should check the "copy song when adding to the iTunes Library" option in preferences. I suggest creating a new library and re dragging your music back into itunes.

That's not realistic. Those of us with huge libraries often can't afford to burn disk space on the boot drive and end up keeping everything on a different disk.
To solve this problem, I'd suggest copying all the tracks from the iTunes Library browser to a folder in the Finder (assuming you have space). Next, delete all the files in your iTunes Music directory. Now the tracks you wanted to keep are backed up and the ones that you weren't storing in your library have been removed.

i dont really understand how that is pertinent? but if you want to have all itunes files in one place you can click on consolidte library...?
