There have been a couple of threads floating around, but i decided that people might like to have one place to go and ask questions about the game.
I have the game so i'll try to answer any question that anyone might have.

The game is a 10/10, and if you have a ps3 it is really worth the buy

This one's 'official' though :D

Considering the "official" release date is today, yesterday was more than likely a dry run for the servers. I noticed even when I would get connected the menus would lag a bit with the connection to their servers being less than optimal, however once I couldn't get connected the menus were much more fluid and faster to load. I sent in a report to Mm but I think they probably already know this.

Jimmi, I'll try to make a Hoff sackboy for you. Better now? :p

The servers are having serious launch day problems, and are still down. The game continues to amaze, (and frustrate while trying to collect 100% on all levels) :(... i think its worth it though. It's a thing of beauty

Picked mine up last night. Quite happy with it after one night, but the severs were down and the game froze up on multiple occasions.

Still super exited for one of the only original, non-sequel titles of the holiday season.

stainlessliquid
Oct 29, 2008, 11:39 AM
I think the only reason its freezing up is because they wont turn the servers on. The game tries to connect online everytime you go to your pod, so it sits there and keeps trying until it times out from no response. When they were on yesterday the game never froze, it went straight to the pod and into the levels.

Ya, that's gotta be it. The only time mine crashed was once when it actually showed the EULA, I hit agree and BAM!

Yay, maybe you will get it right when the servers go up.

I beat the story yesterday, still going for 100%. I loved the final boss. It was easy, but so complicated and amazing. I can't believe I could make that thing with the editor!

I've been fairly lucky with getting online the past 2 days -sometimes I have even had great connections and no lag at all with the servers. I played a couple games online last night and it started to get a little laggy at loading but no lag once the game started.

I must say - great game and tremendous fun online. The lipsyncing sacboys while you talk is HILARIOUS!

PSN is kwick7 - I should be playing later tonight again.

Success! I just picked up the game at Walmart. I've been dabbling in the single player and just started a bit of multiplayer.

There seams to be some big lag problems still. It was very hard to play. It was still really fun, and meeting new people is awesome. I can definitely see the appeal and potential already.

I have some things to do and i'll dive back in latter today.

Rivix
Oct 30, 2008, 04:44 PM
Just some quick notes:

It would seam the servers are down again. I feel bad for the tech people over at Sony, but how couldn't you have expected this much traffic?!

Also, the controls we're bothering me (especially jump) but I'm warming to them.

The single player is also growing on me. It can be boring at times, but knowing that there are some really hidden items keeps me coming back. I've gone through the second level probably 5 times, and can't get any more than 80%. I don't even know where they might be. Not even a hunch. I'm intrigued.

Everyone got a nice F-you from sony today. Japan got both the space suit and the pumpkin mask today, along with an Ape Escape costume. Ya we were promised the space suit this week (well, more like LAST week), and ya we get a halloween mask in late November, but dont worry, because we went through such a rough launch Sony is making it up by giving us less content and delayed content that is already available in other countries. Its less than what other countries are getting. Im at a loss for why countries who barely celebrate Halloween are getting the Halloween themed DLC while we have to wait until around thanksgiving. Its been almost 2 weeks since the game hit the shelves and they cant even get already-made DLC on the damn servers in all the countries. It boggles the mind how stupid Sony can be, whoever is managing this launch just needs to be fired because its been one screw up after another.

You sir are living proof that no matter what a developer does some people can never be satisfied. Get over it, there always will be regional exclusive content and add-ons. Look at Minna No Golf for example, most of its downloadable content is specifically for the Japan region.

Mm did a great job with LBP, give credit where its due, and leave the nitpicking to MRU ;)

It is what they promised, there have always been region based exclusives and content, PSN just makes them more visible than they were in previous generations.

It works for me, you need to be using a Japanese account though, it will not work with my US PSN tied account. I doubt having a CC linked to the JPN account matters, but I have that too.

Mr. lax
Oct 31, 2008, 12:08 AM
LBP is amazing, no disputing that, and MM is an absolutely great company that has done everything they can to make this available to the customers as soon as possible. Sony on the other hand has been nothing but problems, its been one delay after another since the announcement. oh well, nothing to do now but play every level ever made...

Stupidity will always piss me off. Beuracratic red tape for mundane things like character costumes being region locked is pretty high up there on the stupidity meter, especially when theres simply no way for money to be lost through extra liscense fees (since its all owned and made by Sony). Treating us like we're idiots will also piss me off, like what Sony did in the blog post, rewarding us with something we were already going to get? Thats like doing a weeks worth of work and having your boss give you a paycheck for a weeks worth of work and then calling it a gift. And as long as I paid $60 for this game I think Im in my right to complain, they arent running a charity.

Thats what I did and it didnt work. Although I had to start with a fresh save file, all I did was complete the intro and didnt see the costumes in the popit. I dont have a credit card tied to either account, but I dont see how that would matter.

I understand you paid for your copy(like everyone else) but its FREE content....no matter how you put it or how/when they say it would be provided.

I could understand you being upset over the servers because I was a little gitty to get online with this thing and do some things but on FREE content...I just don't know about that.

You do know that Sony treats the NA territory better than all the others right?

I just got the game two days ago and its everything I thought it would be. The jumping can get annoying sometimes and THIS GAME CAN GET HARD....so much for being a kiddy widdy casual game:)

Missing a few costumes here and there is not *that* horrible. It might be nice, but we're talking about a costume- albeit with a cool siren, and not 20 super-cool huge Japan only levels. Perhaps in protest you can make your sack boy have an angry face for a while.

Its not about the costumes, its about the stupidity and lack of respect they have for their customers. Are you telling me that if you bought something that came with an item that you wouldnt care if the store gave everybody else the item at checkout but told you that you had to wait 2 weeks even though they still had plenty of items left? And then patronized you by acting like they were doing you a favor despite promising you the item at checkout before you bought it?

Mr. lax
Oct 31, 2008, 11:26 PM
The lag still sucks, i'm working my way through as many tags as a can find, the game just keeps getting better and better.

I also wanted to add a side note about the difficulty, some of the levels are easy, like a 3 year old could play and absolutely slay! AND there is some levels that are... from extreme to impossible difficulty, like these people that made the levels must have super human reaction times. because a normal like myself cannot pass even the first parts.

I am also having a few problems with the servers still

Well I went to Play'N'Trade (new video game store in town) today to pick up a copy of LBP, and after some real cruddy service, I finally got them to explain why they didn't have it, and apperently there is still the stupid drawback issue. I mean you would think they would have some by now.

So I head over to Best Buy, and they literally had 5 this morning, but they JUST NOW took them off the shelves. I was soooo mad that I didn't even want to check GameStop. I mean I know some people who swear its at GameStop, but I was just sick of it. I didn't want to drive all the way over to town, just to find that they JUST pulled them all off the shelves.

Damn, why did they have to make such a big gripe over what was wrong with a few arabic songs? Sheesh. What a crappy day.

LBP rocks.

I finally got a chance to play last night after my son went to bed. I only played through the first 4 or 5 levels, and I haven't tried creating much of anything, but I can tell this is going to be an awesome game the deeper you go. It's got serious legs on it.

If you own a PS3 you really need to get this game, even if you don't think it's your cup of tea. If you don't own a PS3, consider buying one.

Only if Sony go the way of Sega.....and I don't see that happening anytime soon so you're gonna have to pay up to play up.

Playing online is fun and all but some people just do what they want instead of trying to win some prizes. I was playing with a group of people the other day and I just couldn't get anything done....I was actually dragging the other players to move along...still fun though.
