Hi

Simple question really. In a simple home network does it matter what cables I use to

1.) connect a mid 2008 iMac to a Time Capsule (LAN), and

2.) connect time capsule in bridge mode (WAN port) to router/DSL modem.

I presume both the TC and iMac are Auto-MDIX?

And will Cat 5e vs. Cat 6 cable make any noticeable difference for internet speed, i.e when time-machine is backing up over the network while on line?

Thanks.

According to:

You do not need a crossover cable. Usually, the only time you need a crossover cable is when connecting end-device to end-device (i.e. computer to computer) or connecting two switches/hubs together. Of course, with the advent of Auto-MDIX you can get away with either cable if your device supports it.

Also, you won't notice any performance improvement by going to CAT 6.
