Dose anybody no a good scientific calculater. Mabey some sort of an emulater for the Ti-83 Plus.

Well, for a very basic scientific calculator, just use the OSX included calculator, and switch it to the "advanced" mode. Combined with the paper tape to make things easier to see (display that, too), you have a basic set of exponential, trigonometric, and algebraic functions.

For more power, there are many options, including emulators for beefy scientific calculators. Go to VersionTracker.com and do a search on "calculator" for dozens of options.

For ease of use, get any HP RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) scientific calculator. The more complicated the calculations, the more you'll appreciate RPN's logic and simplicity.

RPN = Think Different :)

A Google search should also locate RPN programs to convert your Mac calculator.

PCalc is quite a good calculator and has a RPN mode, along with the typical programmer radix conversions.

The only thing I haven't seen is a programmable calculator, although I believe that there is a graphical shell for bc, the arbitrary precision programmable calculator in UNIX.

Hunt down X48 and get a HP 48GX for Max OS X if you want a great RPN calculator. Free is tough to beat. Of course, as a HP bigot since the HP45 (which I still own) maybe I'm partial.

As an owner of a plastic HP 48GX for several years, I really love the X48 emulated calculator. Alas, it seems to have disappeared from the 'Net. However, I still have it in my Dock and it serves me well. There are, however, other RPN calculators for MacOS X for those with the brains to do a simple search.

there is probably a calculator for x11 you could use as well. i been meaning to look for one too. the calculator that comes with os x is pretty good though.

It was a sweet calculator for an engineer. I would have preferred the HP-16C but never had the money until after it was discontinued.

I haven't liked RPN since I had to write a calculator in software to use it. :D

well i know how you mac hackers like the RPN :P. i know a subset of the PPC assembly for a smaller processor, but that is beside the point. I have t-89 which i have been happy with for years, but no RPN for me :(
