2 Finger Clicking doesnt work!

i'm using windows xp sp3, and when i want to right click, i cant 2 finger tap/click, i have to do a three finger click. i cant just tap with 3 fingers either.
its really odd because my two finger scrolling works just fine!

I have the same problem, but it looks like it's just a matter of luck.

The first time I installed vista on my mac it worked fine, the second none, and I installed the same vista.

I have the same problem in Vista SP1 on my new 2.4 Macbook. It is kind of annoying, especially when trying to play games using trackpad.

It's windows. problems are expected. BSODs are welcomed with open arms. Dealing with a ram hog is mandatory.

I noticed this as well. I tried tinkering with the bootcamp options while in XP by checking and unchecking the 2-finger right click feature, but had no luck. It's interesting 3 fingers works, guess i'll try that out. It must be an error on windows' end

It's all about the Bootcamp trackpad drivers. Since the beginning they have been glitchy compared to the OS X drivers. In OS X everything has always worked perfectly, however in Windows:

Two-finger scrolling is very inconsistent.
Tap-click only works if you tap just right.
Two-finger right click really requires three fingers. (as you've discovered)
Even cursor movement is not as smooth as it should be.


Fortunately I spend 90% of my time in OS X and Fusion. For the times I need to spend time booting into Windows using Bootcamp, the best solution for me is to have a Bluetooth travel mouse handy.

Trackpad drivers for Windows are apparently very low on Apple's priority list.

I was using windows xp pro in boot camp and having similar issues.

just started using the trial version of vmware fusion and to my surprise all the mouse features work flawlessly on my virtual machine (i'm actually typing this from google chrome within my windows vm).

it seems the people at vmware are more worried about getting the drivers right than apple...

Anyway, I believe Apple designed the trackpad driver for people to always have their thumb on the bottom of the trackpad.

One finger clicking works better if the thumb is on the bottom, two finger clicking works (well... still three fingers), and the mouse doesn't jump all over the screen erratically if you have your thumb on the bottom of the trackpad.

As for the tap to click, I disabled it. I found it very annoying while typing, then the mouse would move to another location randomly.

I suspect Apple is reluctant to have Windows work flawlessly on their own machines. Not a bad business decision, actually.
