I have a MacBook Pro 15", I have been running Window XP 32 bit using Boot Camp, with Tiger running on the Mac Side.

I can no longer access the internet on the windows side using any internet connection programs (Browsers: Firefox and IE, Software updates, AutoCAD activation, etc.). But the Mac side works perfectly fine. The Windows side will say that it has connected to the wireless network and has very good reception, but will not work in any way. I have also tried connecting using my ethernet port, and that does not work either. I have also tried this on probably four or five different wireless networks, with consistent results.

It worked fine from the time i got the computer (summer 2007) until the summer 2008, (June? July?) and i did not bother fixing it until now because i will have to use AutoCAD and Revit soon (i am an Architecture student - there is no getting around using windows) and it is impossible to activate AutoCAD without an internet connection on the windows side. I don't remember installing any new software or hardware at the time this happened.

I have tried updating my wireless card driver, repairing the drivers for the MacBook Pro hardware, and resetting the wireless connection, and nothing has done anything.

I am willing to wipe out the windows partition and reinstall window,, but i don't have Leopard, so i have Boot Camp Assistant Beta 1.3 and whenever i try to start the application it quits immediately and tells me that it has expired. And there does not seem to be any update from apple for boot camp.

I would rather not spend the money on Leopard, but there does not seem to be any way around it.

Can anyone help me?

Set your clock back before December 31, 2007.

Also, 1.4 exists.

Thanks, for helping me get boot camp working, but now when i try to partition the hard drive, Boot Camp Assistant tells me that the partition has failed because the disk needs repair.

It tells me to fix this with disk utility. But i am unable to repair the disk in disk utility, because it is grayed out. What do i do now?

Backup and reformat your disk. It'd be easier to just clone, wipe, and clone back under Tiger.

How would i go about reformatting my disk?

How would i go about reformatting my disk? After you've made a backup you would use Disk Utility on your OS X DVD.

You'd really be a lot safer and more comfortable if you used BootCamp 2.0 and Time Machine on Leopard.

Try using the drivers recommended here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1661854&tstart=0

Basically, a lot of MBP users are experencing problems with WiFi in Windows XP due to poor drivers. These drivers have worked for some of us. It may or may not work for you, but it's worth a shot. ;)

i installed Windows XP through my bootcamp as well and have no issues going back and forth between windows and mac - however, when i am in windows, i have no internet connection. mine is a little different from above as i do not use wi-fi. i have a broadband high speed modem deal that still has the cord that connects to my computer. it works fine in mac, but i need internet in windows as well and can not figure it out. i also have a macbook pro 15". can anyone help with this?

Thank you to Tallest Skil and Eidorian, i now have a full functional window operating system.

I ended up reinstalling Mac OSX and Windows, and i have spent basically the past two days getting everything back in running order.

Another interesting point in my case was that when i looked at my internet connection window, it reported very good reception, but the numbers were extraordinarily low (sending and receiving 20 - 80 packets, the numbers are now in the hundreds of thousands of packets).

It took a while, but at least my computer is working as it should now. Thanks again.
