View Full Version : Keyboard/trackpad on windows 7

I've been perusing this section of the forums, and I already found a solution to one of my problems- audio. Thanks to those that posted about that!

I still have two more problems. I can't get the keyboard stuff installed, so I can't adjust brightness on my whitebook. This is crucial so I can turn down the brightness and gain more battery life. I also can't get the trackpad drivers to install, so I don't have advanced trackpad features such as scrolling.

I have a whitebook c2d and I'm on windows 7 64 bit

Have you tried running a modified version of the Boot Camp.msi from the Leopard DVD? You need to modify the .msi driver package to remove the Windows version checking on launch so it can run on W7.

Do the following when booted into Windows 7.

First off, copy the Boot Camp drivers folder from the Leopard DVD to your Windows hard drive.

Download and install Easy MSI Editor (http://www.brothersoft.com/easy-msi-editor-download-70589.html).

Run Easy MSI Editor and open up the BootCamp.msi file from your hard drive. You'll see a table in Easy MSI. Scroll down the left hand column and delete the entry that says "LaunchCondition". Save and exit Easy MSI.

Now run setup.exe from the drivers folder you copied to your hard drive from the Leopard DVD. The setup should run and install the neccessary drivers for your system.

Thats how did it albeit for a Rev. A. MBP and W7 32-bit but the procedure should work for W7 64-bit.

[EDIT] You should edit BootCamp64.msi if it's on your Leopard DVD since you want the 64-bit drivers.

Ok, I tried that, and it will start to install. However when it gets to the part where it is starting the services near the end, it can't start the services. It says I may not have sufficient access priveleges. I tried right clicking on it but there is no "run as administrator" option. So I don't know what to do.

Hey, I think I have the same MacBook revision model as you do. It's late 07 model right? Download this torrent (http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1688648/6201776/) (mods, this is not pirating right?). And once you finish, don't autorun. Explore the folder and find BootCampx64.exe. Once it finishes, reboot and see which drivers are working correctly, and manually install them from the Drivers folder, make sure it has 'x64' suffix at the end of the name. If you have *problems* with the torrent, just pm me. :D Good luck!

Have you tried running setup.exe as an Administrator?

Hey, thanks guys. I'm gonna go ahead and try both things right now, I'll get back to you when I've tried them!

*Edit*
I have to register on that site to download that torrent, and it won't let me register because they aren't accepting public registrations right now. :(

I just tried running the setup.exe as an administrator, and still no luck. It can't start either KeyAgent or Mac HAL.

I'm thinking I may try a reinstall of win7 and see if that does anything when I get the time.
