MPEG Video Help

Hello,

I need to extract the audio from a "MPEG Movie" file, when I attempt to do this in Quicktime Pro, it says it can't export audio, because the movie has no audio track. Is there anyway to separate the audio from the video? (I want to eventually play the audio on my iPod).


Any suggestions?

look on VersionTracker and search for "mpg" then download "mpgtxwrap"

This will allow you to "demux" or "demultiplex" the MPEG file -> break it into its elemetary video and audio streams. you should then be able to import the resulting MPEG-1 layer 2 audio into iTunes where you can then convert it to AAC/MP3 etc. and then copy it to your iPod (iPod won't let you play the file unless you convert it)

Just a note for the first one, an alternate program is WireTap from Ambrosia Software, which is freeware.

I go with what Hex said, I use WireTap to capture audio from streaming audio sites or and sound that plays on the Mac. It then saves them as .aiff files to the desktop.
