iTunes Problem

Im having a problem with my iTunes playlist. I have 3.24 GB of music but I accidentally erased my playlist but my HD stayed the same. I reloaded my playlist and my HD jumped another 3 GB so instead of 10gb im up to 13. I deleted my playlist again reinstalled and im up to 16gb used and it should be only 10. Does that make sense to anybody and how do i get my HD to read 10gb again instead of 16.

You probably have 3 copies of every song in there, if not, I can't help except for a backup/reinstall OS.

I found extra copies so after some deleting im back to 10gb thanks for the help
