Hi all,
I just got a 300mhz Wallsteet from ebay without a O/S and I want to download a O/S 7.5 from apple and burn it on to CD, but I only have Windows XP PC with a net connection. Does anyone know what software I need to do this and where I can get it from.
Cheers

if you toy around apple's website, on the support page, you can find an older software page that has 7.5 in it. if i remember correctly, it's in pieces... lemme see if i can find it really quick...
http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html
once you're there, do a quick search on the page for Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_7.5_Version_7.5.3/System_7.5.3_01of19.smi.bin
to jump down to where it is. 19 pieces. i'm at work, and in a hurry, so someone else will have to guide you through the process of puttin them onto discs for you to use on a mac...

I dont think that machine will run on 7.5 ... but that might just be me. You are probably better off buying a bootable CD from the internet with OS 9 or 10.x on it. OWC (http://eshop.macsales.com/Specials/Specials.cfm) has 10.2 and 9.1 for $59.99 and $39.99 respectively.

you can download the software directly to the PC then depending on the format burn it to a CD and boot from it. You will probably have to uncompress the file first and if it is a disk image then you may need access to a mac to burn it usably to a CD.

CheersThe Wallstreet PowerBook (http://www.apple-history.com/frames/body.php?page=gallery&model=pg3s) cannot run System 7.5. The oldest OS that it can run is MacOS 8.1. Why don't you get MacOS 9.2.2 or even MacOS X 10.2?

a quick look through on ebay shows 8 goin for prolly in the 15 dollar range... but 9 is pretty nice... and if you get creative with your search terms, you can occasionally find people selling them under weird names where they don't get noticed much and sell cheap... i've seen at least 2 x.2 cd's go for 5 bucks because the title was somethin strange...
but i hear ya on the broke thing. sometimes i think i'm going to be using os 9 forever...
