Hello all. have a problem with my airport extreme base station. I just bought a sony ux 50 clie pda, which has wireless internet. (a big selling point for me because I'm highly wireless) Now I use 128-bit wep protection on my base station and know my password and can use the password to get onto the network with my ibook, but the clie asks me for a WEP key. apparently, the wep key and the wep password are two very different things. I'm running os X on both my ibook g3 and my powermac G5 (the powermac is wired to the base stations lan port). Is there a way to get the wep key with either of these? (the ibook has a regular airport card)

open airport admin utility
log into your base station
in the basestation menu select the "equivalent network password"
there is your hex wep key.

np- also next time you have a problem, try the help menu. usually you can search and find the answer you want, quicker than through an online forum. didn't find the answer there myself, but most can be found there.

Yeah, for the most part everyone is quite nice on this forum! On those rare occasions when someone gets a bit snotty it usually turns out to be one of the kids - but then they know everything so it's understandable. :D
