So i've fetched myself one of those new 2.66 GHZ iMacs, installed WoW on it, but found the performance not quite what i expected.

The FPS performance feels like my old 2.0 GHZ iMac.
I can get a good 50 FPS inside buildings, but outside it's a meagre 15-20 FPS.

My old iMac had 4GB memory, the new one just 2 GB.
Would upgrading to 4 GB make much of a difference?

This is my graphic set-up btw, perhaps the problem is here?

Thanks in advance!

ps. I only run iTunes, Firefox, and sometimes MSN, in the background.

I upgraded my 2 Gb iMac to a full 4 Gb and I immediately noticed faster loading times (especially Northrend) and much less lag in Dalaran once everything has loaded. So yes, there will be a performance boost. Not necessarily an FPS boost, but overall performance will be better.

no matter what, if you are playing any game under OS X it will be less than what you expected.

you should definitely increase the RAM - that will help with a lot of things. you might also try installing CrossOver and running the windows version of WoW on it.

or if you actually want to partition/install windows you could use BootCamp or VMware, etc...

As I recall, shadows have a huge impact (turn off) and view distance can be reduced. If you graphic card can handle a resolution, don't assume that dropping the game to WoW's lowest resolution 800x600 (I think) will improve your performance. Experiment and see if any reductions help frames.
