View Full Version : Mix changes when Exported to iTunes

I have found that the mix changes when exporting to iTunes. Notably, the bass kick completely changes it's texture and becomes much louder. I've been trying to mix with this in mind and mix certain tracks lower than I'd otherwise.

Is there a better way, or an alternate way of exporting the finished track?

I hate that!!!
I use GB to mix to Itunes using a G4. The source is a Roland 1680
digital recorder. I already produce the perfect mix while it's being
recorded into GB, I don't need GB to RE-MIX my song, especially
when it totally kills it!!

I don't understand. :(

Well, you could try Audio Hijack or Wiretap (search versiontracker.com). These programs will record any audio currently playing on your Mac directly to an .aiff file. This may provide a more accurate audio capture from GarageBand.

Let us know how it works.

What is the quality of those programs like? Do the files have the same quality as in GB?

I might try going to the GB audio source files. Maybe they will open in an editing program like Adacity, so you'd just have to save it as a wav or whatever you like.

Not surpirsingly, I wasn't able to open GB files in Audacity.

Hopefully this problem will be fixed in an update.

I'll check out Flowbee's suggestion in the mean time.

1. Be patient, not finding an instant solution does'nt mean there's something wrong with the software.
2. Check your path: Exporting an GB doc to iTunes creates an .aiff file in your iTunes music folder(your username album)
3. Open and process this file in audacity or audio hijack
4. No results? Go back to 1

To answer an earlier question: Audio Hijack rips perfect sound without any loss. Just select AIFF as the output format.
