I was using my PB's files on my PC the other day, and when I went to computer properties, look what I found (see attached image). I know that all Win 9.x computers show up as "Windows 95 Workstation" and Windows XP shows up as "Windows (mine) Professional." So what does this mean? I thought it went straight from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows NT 5.0 (2000) to Windows NT 5.1 (Windows XP)?!?!?

I thought it went straight from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows NT 5.0 (2000) to Windows NT 5.1 (Windows XP)?!?!?It did, that's very odd. There is no version of Windows AFAIK that is identified as NT 4.9. There's NT 3.5 (NT), 4.0 (NT), 5.0 (2000), 5.1 (XP), 5.2 (2003/.NET).

I believe when it shows up as "Windows NT 4.9", the machine is actually running a version of Samba (http://www.samba.org/) . I'm pretty sure this is the "OS stamp" that Samba uses.
