View Full Version : Why is wmp so sluggish?

why is that everytime i get a wmv from a friend that has a PC, and i like slide the arrow to the middle it plays sound, but not video. it is like it is an emulation. a crappy one. any suggestions??? or does this happen to everyone?

because it was made by microsoft.

I suggest downloading VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) to play all non-Quicktime movies.

WMV9 is just a crappy codec. Real media being only slightly worse.

WMV just doesn't scrub right. And last I remember, nothing but WMP could play WMV9 files.

anyone know if someone has been able to reverse-engineer the WMV3 codec?

Because it sucks. Figure out what the W in WMP stands for and the rest falls into place.

I suggest downloading VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) to play all non-Quicktime movies.VLC Media Player cannot play WM9 files. For those, you need M$ WMP 9.

Compare WMP for Mac with MSN Messenger for Mac... not counting Office (something we actually have to pay for), Microsoft seems to rip all the guts out of their programs for mac...
