What is this process?

I noticed that my F@H progress was slowing, and so I checked my process viewer and found that some user process, called "dnetc" was taking up more than half of my CPU power. I figured that this was what was slowing my F@H progress. I killed it via the Terminal, and haven't suffered any ill effects yet, but would like to know if anyone has an idea what it is. What is it? Are there any ill offects of killing it? Why does it take so much CPU power? Thanks. Your help will help my folding for team 3446.

I would say that it is indeed connected with F@H. I think it's the process that does the folding. Did F@H advance after you killed this process?

F@H progress sped up greatly once I killed this process. Unfortunatley I lost everything this afternoon with a problem involving moving my home folder, so I'm not sure about the long term results of killing the process. I'll check back later if I notice dnetc again.

Wrong - the folding process is caled 'FahCore_XX.exe', where XX is the revision number (I assume). I've got F@H running on my iMac - I just checked my Activity Monitor, and I don't have dnetc running.

i have no idea how that got there...bizarre.
mind you, i rather enjoy the dnet stuff more than f@h.../me hides
