View Full Version : Why Doesn't Apple Make Exposé More Functional?

I really think Apple should make Exposé more functional in the next OS X update. For instance, when you press F9 I think that you should be able to use all applications just as you normally would, but have all the windows remain shrunk. It annoys me that you can't do that already, and that when you select an application and want to use it it returns the windows to their full size.
apple could call this feature "virtual resolution" or something. shrinking windows down to size to give the virtual illusion of a higher resolution screen, but without actually having to order screens which display natively at higher rez. It also would give the user more choice over their computer viewing experience.
What do you guys think? :)

I think that the virtual resolution technology might have a bit of merit, but I normally have 15-20 windows open and they get far too small to be useable when exposed. I guess if you only had 3 or 4 though you'd be alright perhaps. Those that really need the space are designers and that's because they need more data to be displayed. By just shrinking the windows, you still aren't presenting more visual data.

I thought the F9 function was implemented to allow users to switch between windows/apps more quickly when there were a lot open, to save a lot of cmd-tabbing and cmd-` ing.
It doesn't make sense to use the programs that you have tinified; I have five windows open right now and the text in only one of them is readable when they are all displayed at once.
But, if it were an option to be able to use the expose-d windows, I'm sure there are those who would be able to take advantage of it. Maybe on a 23" display or something.

If you really want more space to keep all your windows open and workable, just buy a bigger screen or use multiple monitors. That's the only way to truly gain desktop space.

I have a nifty virtual desktop program, but it seems like the original poster wants every window they have open all displayed at once which can only be done productively if you have a nice big screen.
