FCP Help

My friend bought FCP recently, and I played with it today.
The thing is, when I was importing a .mpg video (from the hard disk), there was no sound in FCP. Importing .avi file was good, we get both a video clip and an audio clip.
Does anyone know the problem?

If it's muxed, then the audio and video data is interleaved in a way FCP doesn't like. I think that's what you are dealing with.

Worst case scenario, use WireTap or something to pull off the audio track, and resync it in FCP with the imported audio.
