Apple Key and Spacebar not working

So I am on my new computer here at work.

Specs:

- 1.6Ghz G5
- ATI 9800 Pro card
- 256 Mb RAM (the additional 1 GB is being returned, bad RAM)
- 10.3.4
- Adobe Creative Suite

Here is my problem. My shift key to constrain proportions in Illustrator CS isn't working, and my spacebar quick key for the hand too doesn't work in Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign CS, and the quick key apple (command) + spacebar for quick zooming doesn't work as well. Needless to say I am quite frustrated.

Anyone know what is going on or have any help? Please?

Did you try another keyboard?

I found out! It is actually a problem with having Entourage and any of those apps open at the same time. Quit Entourage and everything works fine.

Time for an update from microsoft I would say.

Thanks for the tip; I had the same problem and was baffled. Turns out you don't need to quit Entourage, you just need to turn off the Entourage keyboard shortcuts:

Entourage > Preferences > General > Use Microsoft Office keyboard Shortcuts for editing text [uncheck]
