VirtualBox v. Parallels? [Archive]

I just saw someone recommend Virtual Box. Can anyone tell me a little more about it? Im interested in buying a MBA..... but currently i run Parallels on my White Macbook, and with less than 3MB of RAM it gets extremely slow. Im looking for alternatives and one of my concerns with the MBA is the RAM limit.

I dont run anything else that requires more RAM, so im trying to come up with the best option possible for running Windows on my MBA. I appreciate all insight.

I don't know about Virtual Box but you also need to take a look at VMWare Fusion (http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/).

I am not sure for OS X and WIndows but VMWare itself is the King of Virtual Machines.

I have Fusion myself and it runs really nice but again I am a bit biased because we have server farms that only runs VMWare ESX 4. :rolleyes:

That I don't know. Perhaps other members here can tell you. They have a 30 trial. Give that a go.;)

I use VMWare Fusion almost every day and I am very happy with it. If you need to dual boot I recommend using Fusion. Works great for me running AutocCAD and 3DS MAX doing anything but rendering, which I have to run natively.
I use a MacBook UB 2.0GHz with 2GB RAM, don't know how this compares to your MBA.

VirtualBox is free where Parallels and Fusion are pay

I use Fusion and it works quite well with Boot Camp and on its own

Since VirtualBox is free, there is no reason not to try it and see if it will meet your needs

If it doesn't, both Parallels and Fusion have free trial versions
Personally, I recommend Fusion
