Slaptech (http://www.slaptech.com/index.php) is reporting that along with the .mac conversion a $100/year membership fee will be required to use Apple's iTools services. If it's true, I hope it's for premium services and not the simple things we've been enjoying for free.

Apple would have to be insane to start charging for iTools! It will made less-experienced mac users everywhere feel that Apple is just turning into Microsoft and that their once "user-friendlyness" is lost! Well, I may be exaggerating (sp?) a bit, but I seriously doubt Apple would charge for what has become such a valuable resource for mac users.

reminds me of hotmail...x5
for $100, there'dd have to be domain registration included in it, such as if your username was "ilovemacs" your site would be www.ilovemacs.mac...

the whole .Mac thing sounds pretty stupid..I think iTools is here to stay and possibly, more paying services - like the current added iDisk space - will be added..
