Hi everyone!

I know this has sort of been asked before - I searched the forums and tried to find the info I needed, but everything seemed fragmented.

So, this is what I need to do:

We have an Imac with OS X (10.2.8) and OS 9.2 on the same partition of a hard drive (only one partition)

The 9.2 classic environment seems hosed - can't properly boot it up, Outlook won't work in it...or anything..

So, I wanted to do a clean install of the OS 9.2 classic environment *WITHOUT* affecting the OS X install.

I have heard lot's of nightmare stories about affecting the OS X and stuff about "blessing"(???) operating systems and such..and am a bit confused..

So, I'd like to find a simple easy to follow set of directions that will allow me to do this *without* affecting the OS X install.

Is this possible??

They have nothing to do with each other. It is safe and it is how Apple shipped the dual boot Macs.

thank you for the response.

I realize that they *can* peacefully coexist....we have two other macs that seem happy enough....for Macs.

Anyway, I am unable to boot into the OS9 partition anymore. Classic appears to start up...but it crashes when we attempt to use it.

I've tried resetting the PRAM, and reblessing both the system (OSX) and system folder (OS9).

This still leaves me with a non-working OS9 install.

So, can I simply stick OS 9.2 install disks in the drive and just reinstall...*OR* do I need to do something more complicated?

Boot from the OS 9 CD and install normally--that ought to work.

thanks again for replying!

I attempted to do that, put my OS 9.2.1 CD in and booted from it.

But.I was soon stumped... it does *not* recognize any hard drive to install on (keep in mind I'm typing this to you from OS X on the "unrecognized" hard drive)...

so....I'm confused!

8-)
