View Full Version : Podcast producer & misc networking needs: alternatives without OSX server?

I am setting up some basic home networking (2 machines, time capsule, apple tv). I think I can do this fine via time capsule/airport.

I think OSX server is overkill, except that I'm struggling to find workarounds for everything I need.

I'd like to sync calendars, but can use something like busycal or even mobile me for that. No problem.

Sometimes I share big files, but can use 3rd party apps for that too.

I have a website, but host elsewhere because time and complexity has always seemed overwhelming.

The thing I can't find a good alternative too, though, is podcast producer. Does anyone have a suggestion for me in this regard?

Or, given my other needs as well, I am just as good to get OSX server to do all of the various things I'm contemplating? My primary goal is simplicity and workability in all of this.

Thanks.

I'd still recommend hosting your site elsewhere for the following reasons:

1. Visitors do not consume your bandwidth
2. It's usually against your ISP's terms
3. It's always online, even if you power off your machine
4. Any work you do on your machine doesn't impact your site
