Ok, i have a problem,
I have a windows harddrive from an old labtop (windows xp) that is faling, and i need to make a backup of it, so ill remove that harddrive and connect it to a usb port on my macbook pro.

Now i need a program that can do that, it can either be windows or mac app sins i also have windows installed on this mac.

here is the problem i bought norton ghost for this , problem is the norton ghost has become a teribal app , that rarly works correct these days, i for the live of me could not get the new harddrive to boot after making a compleat clone, doing lots of browsing on the net to find a solution and i find a ton of people with the same problem and no way to fix it

the new harddrive works fine with a clean install, and the old hard drive boots fine.

now is there any program you can recomend that you have used to backup a external hard drive onto a file on another computer to then restore that file to another external harddrive and have it boot in the old system.

sorry for the ramble, this is just starting to bug me.

Thanks

Sorry, but I am pretty confused by your post (probably my fault)

WinClone (http://twocanoes.com/winclone/) is what I use to clone my Windows partition from the Mac, but I don't know if that has any relevance to your problem or not

I have a macbook pro, with both windows and osx installed, so the i dont care what os the backup program is for.

what i need to do, is copy the data windows and bootsector and everything from a windows labtop with a faling harddrive, to a new harddrive and put it in the old labtop.

@Devtron, did you find a solution, mac-based if possible? I have exact the same problem.
