iPhoto importing trouble

I just transferred all of my iPhotos from my old iMac to my new 12" PB using FireWire. All of my old album folders loaded into my new iPhoto app, but I can't get any of the actual photos to load. They're all placed in my Pictures folder, but when I select them for importing, nothing happens.

When I do a toatl re-import of all my iPhoto pics, I usually takes an hour to do 400 pics, be patient.

It starts to look like it's doing something, briefly says it's working, and then stops.
