Xbox 360 Question Emergency!

I've bought an Xbox 360 120gb harddrive from ebay it came from Hong Kong. It has the Microsoft stickers and all, but it asked me to do an update and its taking like an hour to download. So is the harddrive legit or is it some Japanese knockoff that will brick my console?
