Not quite, Sorry should have been more specific.

Im looking for a program that can look at the id3 tag fields and generate a new file name for the file.

ie.
If the mp3 file name says TRACK 1
And the artist field of the tag says "Folly",
and the title field of the tag says " Broken",
I want it to rename the file.....
Folly - Broken.mp3

I know there is a windows program that can do this but i have not been able to locate a mac equivalent.

itunes will do it if you have it set to keep itunes music folder oragnized and copy to itunes music folder when adding to library. if you open and mp3 on your desktop for example it will copy the file to your music folder while leaving the original in the same place and the copy will be titled (name of song).mp3.
it's not exactly what your looking for because it doesn't put the artist in the title.

It sorta does what i want but not quite. I really don't like the iTunes sorts the files when you let it organize for you.

Curious why the filename would matter if you are using iTunes?

Either way, heres a java program (you'll want the executable jar) that claims to do what you need. http://ostermiller.org/mp3tagger/

http://www.chaoticsoftware.com/ProductPages/MP3Rage.html also has a renamer tool
