Pather does not want to be installed HELP

I just got an 7200 Hitachi 60GB internal hard drive for my Powerbook. I formated the disc but Panther does not recognize the disc as a appropiate target. The disc is formatted and working but when I am going to sellect it the (!) sign appear.

What can I do?

I am using a PB Pismo which has Jaguar already but I just wanted to replaced the discs.

I can not believe no one has no clue! (I can not find the face with the tears).

The hard drive is Hitachi but I have no clue what is going on.

I'm not an expert in Mac but I will attempt this. What file format did you format for your hard disk? Did you format the drive through the disk utility or through some other means? I presumed you are talking about disk not disc.

I formated with the disc utility application in 3 different formats and nothing.
