Wait, is the dotted line really the screen size for the DS lite? Wow.... that thing is going to be huge, and the massive pen too!

I can see the point in this, even my parents have a DS each and their halfway into their 50's and they're appreciate the bigger screens. It's a brave new world :o.
Personally I'm still on my DS Lite until there's some good DSi exclusive games.

When I heard about this I was hoping it would have higher resolution on one of the screens and a video co-processor to run movies off the SD card ... that would be great to compete with the PSP and iPod Touch in yet another way!

Eh, I'll keep my DSi...this guys pretty big...interested to see where they take it(if the DSi or DS lite stays on the market, or if they ax it)

A video, where you can see the DSi XL, DSi, and DSL. And a mock-up, of a fake DSi XL next to a Wii game box.

Eww.
93% bigger area...0% increase in pixel density.
The thing is already just a glorified N64 handheld, and the way it looks now things are already grossly pixelated when running a 3D game...imagine what this would look like!?

Weird that after making the machine bigger - there still wasn't enough room for a GBA cartridge slot ?

Heck, have you seen the SIZE in the latest video (http://www.wiinintendo.net/2009/10/29/nintendo-dsi-ll-first-video-footage/) ... they could add an NES slot!

Its geared towards the older 50+ crowd not you young whipper snappers that can see a mile away. I think its a excellent idea because everyone plays the DS and the screen is small...one thing I don't understand is why didn't they push up the resolution...its going to be pixelated.
What about old games...will it adjust to the screen size?

Apparently, it was also made bigger so people can watch you play.....

Now I'm worried. I hope this isn't the start of a new trend. The DS Lite and DSi, and even the PSP-3000 are perfect sizes. I hope they just aim the XL or whatever they're calling it for old people and don't model the next DS/GB on it.

It's for old people.
I get tons of people in my workplace who run 19" monitors at 1024x768 instead of the native 1280x101024 because 1280 makes things look "too small".
My father liked my DS but complained about the screen size and asked how I can play video games on such a small screen.
Honestly, this makes complete sense. Pity that the people it would appeal to aren't the ones who would be willing to put down $220 on it.

Soon the DSI will be big and heavy enough to be used as weights..

Compared to old portables like GB and Lynx, this thing is tiny. :)
I'm getting to the point that I'm probably going to need one. :o

Well I'm only 25, but I can definitely see myself getting one of these. The DS Lite has always felt tiny in my hands, and the screens sooo small compared to the one sexy screen on the PSP. Yeah I know resolution isn't going up, but it's not like the picture has ever been that super gorgeous on the DS anyway so I don't think it will be a problem for me personally. Still undecided though if it's enough for me to pony up though.
