So is there any reason I should upgrade my Vmware to version 3? I have been trying out Virtual Box and it works just as well as Vmware version 2. I see the new Vmware supports areo in windows 7. I downloaded the trial and really don't see why I should pay for a upgrade when the free Virtual box does the job for free.

Virtual Box has no Aero support (unless that's changed when I wasn't looking). Fusion also allows you to run a bootcamp install of Windows as a VM, which Virtual Box does not do. Those two things make Fusion the better choice if you care about them. If not, then Virtual Box will work just fine. It may get Aero support at some point, too.

I've used em both for awhile now. It kind of depends on what OS you plan to use on the VM. I've found that most Windows XP works just as well...but the interface isn't as slick and streamlined as fusion3. But if that's not all the important to you, stick with virtual box. It's one of the best open source pieces of software out there. If you want a Linux VM, i've found Virtual box to be better. It supports openGL for linux, which Fusion still sadly doesn't.
