recommendations for fun, quick games to play?

so recently i played portal and loved it, especially the quick playtime of the game and so decided to try out some other games. i remember loving chrono trigger so i downloaded an emulator and started it up. after a couple hours i realized that it was taking just way too long and i didn't really want to go through 20-30 hours of play time for an rpg.

are there any good games that are also short? can be any genre, rpg/rts/fps/etc. i don't really mind. can be windows/mac/nes/snes/whatever, just preferably free and not too much of a time sink

actually, writing this post made me feel nostalgic for simcity 2000. is there a mac version floating around somewhere?

There are mac versions of some of the sim games, although I'm not sure which ones.

World of Goo was definitely a fun quick game. For the SNES, I was just playing Yoshi's Island, that game is one of my favorites of all time.
