Hello,

Im a casual mac user that need some help with a xserve setup.
We have a xserve running a internal/external network. The internal uses DHCP.
One of the machines on the internal network needs to be reached from the outside.
How can this be done?

Thanks

You need to get your server a static IP address and enable port forwarding on your router (and eventually firewall).

My server has a static IP adress but im not quite sure where too enable port forwarding on my xserve? Basicly this is how the network is setup.

ISP -> xserve(with 2 connections, 1 local(dhcp), one external) -> computers

So the xserve is running the dhcp service which gives ip adresses too any computer that connects too the lan.

Thanks

This is for 10.4 server "or later" apparently, you don't specify what you're using.

Google (http://tinyurl.com/ybvbtct) > http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=ServerAdmin/10.4/en/c5ns5.html or http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/NetworkSvcs_v10.6.pdf (page 127).

ISP > Router > Xserver, router should be handing out dhcp, then set the xserve to manual with dhcp, give it a static ip in the 192.168.x.x range that it was originally assigned if you'd like, in the router. Log on to the router, and set up single port forwarding for the services you need. No from the outside any services on the xserve can be reached by accessing the routers external IP address.
