hello again.
now that windows 7 (64) is working properly another question came up. Does win7 support fire wire because my external MyBook does not mount when I connect it to my iMac with fire wire 800.
does anyone know a solution for this?

Windows does support Firewire, but it may be that your external HDD is formatted with the HFS+ file system Mac OS uses, which Windows can't read or write to without additional software like MacDrive (has a trial version working for 6 days or so).

hmm.. it seems to recognize my macintosh hd because I can browse all my mac files from here. but maybe it just works for the main Hd and not for external drives..

If you have Snow Leopard, than reading of the HFS+ formatted Mac OS X volume is now supported, but no external HDDs as it seems.

Has the drive also a USB port which you can try?
Maybe the Firewire driver for Windows 7 doesn't work correctly, as Windows 7 isn't officially supported via Boot Camp until January 2010.

now I installed macdrive and it works, there are still some hickups but mostly it does the job.
turns out the HFS+ support on win7 only includes the main harddrives mac partition... and I was already celebrating ...
