Child managed accounts can change preference settings for any Administrator approved authorized program. For a child managed account, settings in mail and safari should not be easily changed without "parental" approval. Does anyone know how or where to find code to creating or inserting an administrator approval pane before making changes within mail or safari programs - just like what happens when a managed account tries to visit a website that is not on the approved list? Any help is much appreciated as I cannot find anything out there on the web and my local Apple geniuses don't know how.

I don't know about an admin approval pane, but I imagine you could change the permissions on the actual preferences files themselves such that the user who is logged in can't change them.
