So, I have decided to go back to PC gaming and am going to be using my macbook (unibody 9400m) as a stop gap until I get round to building a desktop.

Bootcamped with Windows 7 and Steam I will mostly be running L4D 1 and 2, Dragon Age, Torchlight etc...usually for a few hours but some sessions might run longer.

My question is, as I use the macbook for work all day and browsing / gaming most nights (I hit the gym before work!) am I running the risk of reducing it's working life by a large amount? is the hardware likely to overheat / fail more often?

Thanks in advance

100+ days played WoW and maybe 20 with AoC on my MBP now, it's 29 months old now, still going strong

yes.. using it shortens its life. Its best to box it back up in the box it came in and store it in the closet and never turn it on.

But if you actually want to use your machine, then play whatever you want on it.
