Does anyone know of a good app for divvying up bills and expenses among a group of people? I live in a house with 4 other guys, and I was wondering if there were any alternatives to firing up a spreadsheet and going the old-fashioned route.

Calculator?

Wouldn't you just add up all the bills and divide by 5?

Uh... well, calculator certainly is an option. Different people are responsible for different bills, however, plus people often buy things that are meant for communal use. We could have each person cut a check for each bill or expense to the person managing that bill/expense, but I was hoping there might be something out there that would read in everything and then automagically spit out some who-owes-what-to-whom figures.

when i lived with 7 others in a house in grad school, my friend had set up a M$ access database combined with excel to keep track of expenses.

i think the old fashioned spreadsheet will be a lot more flexible and robust...

As tech as I am, I'd go with paper/pen/calculator on this one.

I would suggest Quicken made by Intuit. It is a great money management tool. It's just like working with a checkbook.
