Hello,
It looks to me like ARD 2 uses the VNC protocol.
Does anyone know if you can use a VNC viewer from a PC to remote a Mac that is configured with Apple Remot Desktop 2?
Thanks

The tech specs (http://www.apple.com/remotedesktop/specs.html) page says that you can control or observe both on and from any Mac or VNC enabled computer. I take this you mean you can both control a Mac from a VNC client, and vice versa.

There's also free VNC servers like OSXVNC which I use. Not as robust as ARD, but it's free.

Yes, I have used Chickenof the VNC to control a machine with ARD 2 installed and enabled. Its not as fluid as I woudl like.
Its MUCH better using ARD 2 to control PCs or Macs with VNC.
My guess is that you should use VNC when using a MAc to control A PC or vice versa and ARD for Mac only work. I have NOT tried a PC to Mac via VNC.
Now if they could get PC Anywhere functionality we would be all set.
