Hello,
Recent mac switcher here, enjoying my shiny new iBook.
I do a lot of amateur mix CDs on my PC, for which I used the Acoustica Audio Mixer program. It was a bit crude, but perfect for my needs - volume/pan/rate controls, intuitive visual cutting & splicing. They don't, however, have a version for Mac.
Question:
Can anybody recommend a program that is similar to Acoustica? I need to be able to put all my tracks together, mess around with them, insert track dividers, and burn them as separate Mp3 or WAV files.
Thanks

thanks, i looked at that one but it doesn't quite suit my needs (although it's pretty good, been playing around with it for a bit now....). I'm not looking for software to use live, I need more of a focus on editing and sound manipulation, with an unlimited number of simultaneous tracks (or at least more than 4).

I don't know what the program you were using is, but perhaps garageband could do what you want.

Audio Hijack Pro (http://rogueamoeba.com) should do the trick.

Garageband and Acoustica Audio Mixer seem like twins functionally, except Garageband is the smarter, better looking twin. I looked again and it seems like it's exactly what you are looking for. Take a look at
http://www.apple.com/ilife/garageband/
then take a look at
http://www.acoustica.com/mp3-audio-mixer/screenshot-1.htm
Amazingly close right? Go ahead, tell me it's not.
