At a 25% growth next year, Apple should finally be outpacing the industry, meaning higher market share. I don't recall an exact number, but I think that analysts predict a single digit (5-7%?) growth for the industry as a whole. That means that Apple would be growth about 3-5 times faster than the rest of the computing work. Break out the champaign, especially because the Macintosh will be 21 and finally legal to drink here in the States! :p :D

LOL

I'm "only" 19, and it's legal for me to drink here in Portugal :P

Anyway... Is this the much anticipated iPod "halo effect"?? I mean, it had to happen some day. By the way, I've been noticing an increasing number of iPods [i.e. pairs of white earbuds ;)] in Lisbon Underground and out in the streets. Today, I spotted three (excluding my own :D). I usually see one every now and then, some days I come across two, and now, a new record was set.

Considering that as of Dec. 2003 I had only seen TWO iPods since they were introduced (two 3Gs; one in the Underground, and another in the hands of the director of Interlog, the company responsible for Apple.com.pt), until many months after I bought my own 3G in March 2004, I must say that this is a surprising trend here, and we're adhering to it rather quickly. I'm not all that surprised since I spend a lot of time wandering in FNAC (#1 Mac and iPod retailer, it seems), and I keep noticing how those coloured [formerly b&w] boxes seem to vanish from the shelves as quickly as they're put in there...

Interestingly enough, the same happens with Macs; there are also huge backorders, although the demand here isn't that big. It's a pity that IBM can't keep up with G5 chip demand... I'm sure if Apple had enough chips, they could deliver much more Mac units (and that would mean maybe MORE than 25% growth, if they could increase supply AND marketing efforts ;))

That prediction for a growth rate of 25% in 2005 is quite ambitious. This should continue the rise in Apple Stock. It would seem that they have realized that they need to increase inventory so that they can meet future demand. Good news for customers and Apple.
