My understanding of (intra)networking is decent but I have recently embarked on a project to deploy a VPN that I need some help with.
The Goal: Make a "shared file" on my home office Raid server accessible to a gal in another city.
Equipment: Zyxell Zywall 2 Plus (with VPN capabilities), Qnap TS-410U 1TB/4 Raid File Server running both SMB and AFP protocols, Mac Snow Leopard Clients
Current Status:
I set up IPSecuritas on my MBP and configured the Zywall per IPSecuritas' wizard instructions. When I connect from school (outside of my home network), I get a connection (green light) but an error also shows up in the log. Now, perhaps I'm asking for too much simplicity here, but under Network-Browse, my home servers don't show up. I have tried entering the internal network IP address of the server using both AFP:// and SMB:// as well under Network with no joy. I am downloading a trial version of VPN Tracker as we speak in case anyone is more familiar with that client.
