How long did it list your system as 'Prepared for Shipment' on the order status page (for some reason this status only appears on the US order page). I ordered on the 23rd and have been waiting for it to ship for a few days. Mine also has a delivery date of the 7th in the UK, hoping to get it earlier...

Ordered my hexacore on Friday 20th and have the same delivery status and estimated delivery date as you.
Quick tip if you don't know already, go into the US version of the Apple store (not UK), lookup the status of your order and it will show tracking numbers, one of which (for the Mac Pro itself) starts with HKG. This is a Kuehne + Nagel tracking ref. If you paste it into this website http://www.kn-portal.com/ on the right hand side and select H/AWB number, you can track the flight your MP will be on from Hong Kong to (probably) Luxembourg, under 'Route Map'.
Eventually our UK apple order status should be updated with final carrier info, i.e. TNT or UPS, from Luxembourg to you in the UK.

Let's hope for a smooth flight over for both our machines!!

Did they have lots of stock, differing configurations? They've escallated mine, they don't know why it wasn't shipped yesterday and they don't know where it is coming from!??
Might take a punt and wonder over there!!

I bought mine via Andertons Music (http://www.andertons.co.uk/) rather than Apple. One downside is that, since they get it via the Apple distributor network it seems that there's no way to get a tracking code.
I've no idea where mine (ordered Monday) is or when it might arrive :(

Can you categorically say that they had 12Cores in stock??
I was going to call Covent Garden then thought I'd just try calling my local Apple Store in Kingston if they had any and some girl said yes, come in and we can configure to your requirements. So I drove in, and did they have ******! So I drove back to my local train station, bought a ticket into town and while I was waiting for the train, I called Covent Garden, and they said they haven't got any stock of 12 Cores.
I'm just very deflated now. My two week plus wait, and they don't know what is happening to it!! And they have the audacity to offer 5 to 7 day shipping on it now!! FFS Apple!!

My understanding is that the date quoted is "shipping from distribution" i.e. it's 5-7 days if they have it in the UK distribution channel.
If it's a BTO then it's 5-7 from whenever the container docks.

Mine has always been - shipping = delivery
If I tell a client we will ship print to them in 7 days from order - that doesn't mean when we've finished printing the job it will take 7 days - it means 7 days from taking the order.
Apple were far behind on delivering the MacPro Update and didn't want to look bad by saying deliveries will start (for most people) sometime in September - Hence the taking orders in Aug BS.
Poor service to their dealers and being told I should cancel and order direct does absolutely nothing for customers service, credibility or reputation. Pretty obvious Apple don't really give a fig.

I'm typing from my new 2.4 octacore.
I got the standard config, only upgrades were a magic trackpad and wireless keyboard.
This mac pro is a warranty replacement for a 2008 that broke 5 times, I put in the request for a new one on the 12/08, I had heard nothing from Applecare until Tuesday, I called and they said it could be up to a month.
However I wrote them a strong email (it's a work machine and I've lost more than the new mac costs in work) and suddenly they had one to ship out to me!
UPS reported that the product started shipping from Ireland (where applecare is) so I guess it went a different shipping route than retail delivery.
Can't be more pleased! (Kinda wanted the hexacore, but couldn't afford the price difference)
Also 2008 HD sleds WON'T work in the new Mac, just to let you know!
Ps. Mine was classified as a BTO, if that makes any difference.

Hi Digital VT I went in on Wednesday and they said they had 12 cores and that was 100% he said they have a few in stock but they haven't yet put a display model out. Not 100% about 6 cores but he said all 2010 mac pros had just come in. I went in to get a 4870 for my 06 mac pro as I got tired of waiting for the 5870. Also from personal experience don't trust the woman on the phone when you ring she can't even be bothered to check stock (but said they had the 5870 in stock which they didnt) best to speak to someone in person and ask them to verify they have stock think it's kept underground.

Hi, thanks Akira, Sure, I did call Covent garden whilst I was waiting for my train and they didn't have any 12 Core Ma Pro's, I insisted this time for him to verify that and he did, so I had to get my train ticket re-imbursed!! lol!!
When I got home I called Regent Street store just in case, again this bloke wasn't sure at first, then he eventually checked with someone who knew and they did have the 12 Core in stock but only the standard configuration, ie 2.66Ghz processor, so wasn't for me.
So have been on the phone earlier this afternoon to Apple again and they were trying to check what was going on and they did note that there was an escalation 2 hours prior, they did say that it would ship the following day, ie Friday, I did also wanted to see if I could alter the config slightly, ie get a 5870 instead of the 5770 as of course they are scarce and downgrade my Ram, and he said he would get back to me, so far nothing! So we'll see what tomorrow brings. Just very frustrating! And I don't know how Apple can advertise now 5 to 7 days when some people are still without two and a half weeks later!! Just greedy management!!

Just been told by my reseller that after being on order for two weeks, that it is still 'in manufacture' in China.
NO IDEA!!!! when it will be shipped. MAY have some news next week.
Talked to an Apple webstore rep: Said shipping times where shipping times - manufacture is an UNKOWN?

Quick tip if you don't know already, go into the US version of the Apple store (not UK), lookup the status of your order and it will show tracking numbers, one of which (for the Mac Pro itself) starts with HKG. If you log on to the US Apple Store site you should have two tracking numbers. One for the Mac Pro and one for the other item. For mine the Mac Pro has a number HKG-06894425 and a WW********** number for my printer. I hope this helps.

If the computer is already built I don't think you'll be able to change the configuration.
I had the option to change mine until this morning, when the order still was showing 'Not shipped' but the option of changing or cancelling the order was greyed out. I called Apple to ask what was going on (when I ordered shipping time was 5-7 days and today it made 10) and the guy I spoke with told me everything was ready and it will ship later today. A couple of hours ago I received an email saying the order has shipped with an estimate delivery date of 9 of September. 23 days after they charged me for the bloody computer. If memory serves that WW number should be all you need.
Failing that you might be able to look at your order history and track it that way (like you can on amazon.)
BTW
Just went into the various electronics shops on Tottenham court road in London, and the Apple re-seller there (I've forgotten the name, sorry) said they had the base config. ones in their warehouse and they'll be coming in on Tuesday.

It's almost like their doing you a favour by delivering it whether it's late or not!!
Apparently, finally, I got some sort of answers, long story, mine will ship on Monday, and is still scheduled to arrive on 3rd. I just find it fanciful that they give two weeks shipping then add another week and a half to cover themselves, but then other customers get theirs early, before the two weeks!! I'm not holding my breath, if it's not shipped by then I guess I'll have to cancel the order as I suspect it won't arrive for a gig I've been contracted on the following two weeks. Jeesh, I thought I'd allowed enough slippage time of a week and a half!!

Mate, your so incredibly lucky! !Just got my shipping email last night, although along with it a new delivery date of 9th Sept, and then go online and check the status and it read the 11th Sept, considering I order my 12 core on 11th August that'll be appalling if that happens. I am hoping that if it hasn't got on a flight already, that it'll go either today or first thing tomorrow, get to Luxembourg and swiftly clear there for a rapid delivery at least by the end of the week, which will match their original target of 3rd Sept, which is galling since the original shipping date was 25th Aug!!

If you look at the K&N tracking info, you will see that your 'package' weighs a lot - mine said 270kg. This is because what is being tracked is the freight with a shipment of Mac Pros. These then need to be divided up, combined with the 'other' part of your delivery - I believe this is the manuals and discs but I could be mistaken - and then on-shipped to you via UPS, TNT etc.
From the above I would assume a couple more days after 2nd Sep. Mine was on a plane that had the DTB status on 28th August and nothing else has been updated yet, so I think you still have some waiting to do :(
But it'll be worth it when it arrives! :D

I know this has been asked, but what code are you using to see your status? Mine shipped on the 26th, but all I have is a WW000************* one as well as a Apple reference code beginning with 81
I've tried loading the KN with all these numbers without success. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned a code beginning HKG-8*******, unfortunately I don't have this and all my codes have 9 figures and not 8.
Argh :S
I don't have a TNT reference code yet

What have they been doing with my order?
Its amazing - they can ship a million iPads a week ;)
But they can't put a video card and some memory in a MacPro and put it in a box after 2 weeks.

Hi stujmac26,
Up until Saturday morning at least, my Mac Pro was with yours on the trip to Luxembourg. Have you any idea what is happening now. I expected a new tracking number from TNT by now. I hope it is not just sitting in a warehouse somewhere until they can be bothered to pick it up.
By the way it is not the manuals and disc that they are waiting for. All this will have been done before it left China. It is any other items that you ordered from Apple Store (Printers etc.). Or in some cases the Apple Care documents. There is no reason for any hold up in it then being shipped on.

Hey glassbathroom - I've heard and seen nothing! Was expecting it to be slow after the UK bank holiday but thought status would be updated this morning. Weirdly yesterday my iPad 'Deliveries' app said 'status updated tomorrow' - it's never had a future date for any delivery before, so hopefully that means it is moving but they just haven't told us yet.
Thanks for the info on the extra bits - it'll be my Apple Care documents, hope that doesn't cause a delay as they could just post that to me separately!!
Now I just need to reconcile in my mind whether to wait for a 27" ACD (when in September do we think they will come out?!?) or grab a 24" ACD whilst they are still available. I have no way to use my new MP without one or the other!!! :o

Ok, my package says 161Kg. Wow, yours DTB said 28th, so Saturday, I'd be very unhappy the Bank Holiday interrupted the delivery. My mind has been reading the DTB estimate as being in the UK at a TNT or UPS hub, but thats my decipher of it!! I am assuming if mine left Hong Kong at 1 in the morning it would be in Amsterdam by now!?!? Thats kind of bad planning/logistics of Apples main hub is in Luxembourg, you kinda think Amsterdam would have been a wiser location considering their manufacture plant is in China and AMS is where the entry into Europe is, but then what do I know!!
I've had numerous conversations with Apple staff and on Friday, someone took me seriously and making attempts to deliver it before my deadline of Friday, I guess if it's doesn't arrive then, I'll cancel it and maybe take the option of Apples kind "loan" service for 14 days!! But then that would mean driving into Regent Street or Covent Garden! :D

Thanks for the update. I was discounting the Monday holiday as it doesn't apply elsewhere in Europe and I think Apple Store HQ is in Ireland for us. They way these ship really exasperates me. Not long to wait though now. I just need to relax.
If it were me, I think I would wait for the 27". Maybe grab a very cheap screen off ebay to tide me over. It's funny I have an older 23" screen. When I bought this, I couldn't imaging ever wanting anything bigger. But I can now.

Hello asnozz,
You need to go to the US Apple Store, that's just www.apple.com, go to the store section and down the bottom of the page is Check Status of your order, that brings you to a log on page for your order number and postcode or you can try your Apple ID if thats linked to this order, then th HKG number should be there within. Good luck!! ;)

Nowt exceptionally changed on KN website but just logged into apples status page just now and gives carrier tracking number and assigned carrier, which happens in this case to be UPS. My worry is that it arrived in the Midlands of all places and now has to work it way down south, really Apple, maybe have a look at a map next time!! Considering the machine was in Amsterdam since Tuesday morning, then Luxembourg then Brumland!!! Christ, Apple must be a tour promoter!!! Ha and only 3 and a half weeks after ordering it, not bad for standard (but expensive bit of kit really)!!

It's been 9 days from shipping notification to delivery. I ordered a printer with the MP and they have to ship them together in the UK. This adds two or three days to the time I think. Its arriving 4 days ahead of Apple's predicted date.

Seriously though, I don't know why it's taking you guys so long. My case is different due to it being a replacement and not a sale. And even though I got the stock 8 core, I was given a trackpad and wireless mouse, so it was classed as a BTO.
I was told it might take a month to send to me, but after a strong email (but polite) suddenly Applecare in Ireland magically had one to give me, which leads me to believe that either:
1. They just added the extras in Ireland
2. The Apple stores/Applecare are getting it before the first orders (makes sense)
3. There may be a problem at the plant. Although it takes probably much longer to assemble a MP, the volumes of orders much be much much lower than their notebooks.
I do guess they have to make it on an order-by-order basis. It would not make any sense to keep stock of all configurations (by virtue of how many options there are)
Also I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread, but expedited shipping is a con, it can't be expedited due to the fact it has to come from China by air, and if you call up you will get a refund for it!

I have just called Apple Costumer Service and they told me the free-after-rebate printer that I ordered as part of the back to school deal is on backorder.. which was why the whole order was supposed to arrive on Tuesday 21st, but they can split the delivery, so my custom Mac Pro (and back to school deal iPod Touch) will arrive 2 working days earlier.. which means the friday or saturday before, so 17th or 18th September... From the general shipping thread:
Mine says it has been shipped today together with my iPod touch and apple care. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for it to arrive (I live in the UK). It actually shows me an expected delivery date of 24th September now. That's 3 days WORSE than the expected delivery date before they shipped it.. 2 WEEKS to ship something from Netherlands to UK or wherever they ship it from?!? That surely can't be right?
How long did it take from shipping date to receiving it for you?
EDIT: My order status says "Shipped on: Sep 10, 2010 via Syncreon Technology. Who are they?
