Ouch... I wonder if it's bad programming/design from Rio, bad programming from MS (the DRM), or what?

This is typical MS/PC crap, but what really makes it funny is the whole "Plays, Not For Sure" campaign. When will the PC industry understand that this is exactly the thing driving the 90% marketshare the iPod enjoys.

The sad thing is that MS do understand the problem, that's why they set up the branding program. Still, they don't understand that getting manufacturers to sign a license agreement and letting them self-certify isn't good enough for the consumer market. It needs to be checked by MS or independently. This is the same exact problem that Bluetooth has.
