I'm looking at picking up an External FW Harddrive for Backup to my iBook and BW G3. I'm looking for 120 - 160 Gigs and Price is more of a factor than speed. Any suggestions on Brands and/or retailers?

Thanks,

Coachingguy

If you want to build your own external hard drive (usually cheaper) pick one of these (http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactory.asp?catalog=92&DEPA=0) enclosures, and one of these (http://www.newegg.com/app/manufact.asp?catalog=14&DEPA=0) hard drives, just make sure you choose and EIDE interface.

If you want to buy a hard drive, I'd highly recommend a LaCie (http://www.lacie.com/products/range.htm?id=10033) hard drive. I've got a 2.5" 10GB pocket drive, and I love it.

If you aren't to interested on building your own but want a solid drive in a decent looking case I would go to OWC (http://www.owcomputing.com). They use some decent looking enclosers and have some pretty reasonable prices. their customer support is fantastic as well if you happen to have any problems.

There are many threads about ext. hds here, do a search and you'll get the info you want.

I myself is a happy owner of a LaCie d2 Extreme 250GB
