Just first sync your first-gen iPod to iTunes first. Then if you want keep your data to the new iPod, just plug in the new one and iTunes will prompt you if you want to set up as a new iPod, or if you want to restore from backup.

(However, it's not a good idea to restore from backup if you're jailbroken)
