Don't beat up on my Blue and White. However, they could have chosen a lighter shade of blue. The graphite G4s didn't look that much better. The QuickSilvers do look better though.

I think the Apple III was the worst of the biege days and the IIsi/LC boxes were the best (and the least capacious).

I suppose I went for the Flower Power like everyone else. In actuallity though, I didn't find any of the products listed to be that ugly.

i like all the ones mentioned.

How about the quicktake digital camera or the Quadra 700.

I'm sticking with the toilet seat iBook / clam. I think its combination of gaudy colors and a handle helped mislead many PC users into thinking Macs are just toys.

I'm surprised that the windoze iPod wasn't on there... It may look good on the outside, but on the inside, it has a windoze filesystem... Of course, as long as Apple puts their logo on it... :D

most of the items on the list weren't that ugly...they all had their time and place...the beige G3's were about as boring and uncreative as apple's ever been.

but the emac looks like it should come with sensible shoes:D and the slogan " the computer for mallwalkers".

I always thought the 6400 was pretty ugly. Also my old centris 610 had such a weird shape, but now I see a bunch of sun boxes with the same shape, so I don't feel bad.

I would like to see an apple desktop the size of the Dell Optiplex's. Check them out. They are as big as a phone book, have two pci slots. They are a great size for a crowded desk. Not everyone wants a giant powerboook, some people want a speedy desktop computer at a good price, and don't need all the expansion options.

I know it will never happen though.

I'm not too sure on this. I can't imagine what visitors would think if they saw you working on a flower power iMac and they got a decent side view.

I'm not to impressed with the new G4

I voted for the Dalmation iMac instead of the Flower Power because, come on - what's uglier - pretty flowers or smelly dog fur? Not that the Flower Power wasn't ugly...

The toilet seat iBook definitely wasn't the best looking Mac ever, but it had a certain cuteness to it. Like most Macs, it looks better in person than it does in photos.

I'm not too familiar with vintage Macs, but those fat & narrow under-the-monitor Performas were really ugly to me.

The eMac isn't that bad. It's pretty plain, though. It looks like a big marshmallow from the side. I don't know whether that's good or bad.

Depends if you are having a campfire and lots of friends over. If 50 pounds of marsh is too much, then you are better off with a G3 Snow iMac. :p

No, you fools!

It was the Power Mac 4400 - the PC case with a Mac inside!

That's gotta be the ugliest Mac I've ever seen.....

Hands down, the Apple ///. ugh...

But if you're talking Macs... anything made from 93-98 pretty much qualifies. All bland Platinum boxes that were completely forgettable.

geesus you care what OTHER people think of your computer? That's a bit sad if I might say that.
I really liked the first Ibook and if I had the money I'd buy a lime SE just for looks.

those wacky ibooks they were cool, but damn ugly, so probably those and the LISA, that old 80s computer, it was so gay, thats why it didn't sell well

I love my Clamshell iBook! I didn't know that people actualy called them "Clamshell" that mush but then I was at the Apple SoHo Store today and one of the people that worked thier noticed I was holding an "old iBook product" (Power Adapter) And said " You know that's only for the Clamshell iBooks right?" and I said "yeah" :D I like my iBook (Key Lime) and I think its cool! The new ones have a little less personality, at least thats what I think...

The lime green iMac is just a horrible color. I have one and after a few months I covered the case in camo tape. I guess I hunt to much.

Hands down it has to be the g3 desktop that came out before the iMac. this beast was only available to the education market and has been nicknamed the "Molar"

http://www.apple-history.com/g3aio.html

truly uglier in person!!!

I can't believe that they missed this one on the poll!!!!

In order from total eyesore to just pain ugly/poor designed...

1. Flowerpower iMac - Yuk

2. Hockey Puck/Yo Yo Mouse & Tiny iMac Keyboard - User friendly, what's that ?

3. Toilet Seat iBook - Yuk, Crap screen aswell

4. Blue & White G3 - UGLY, nasty colour scheme and even worse input devices.

5. ALL Powermacs without eject buttons - DOH! where's the user friendlyness of ejecting from the keyboard ? I need to go under my desk to take out the CD so why not put it on the case where it belongs and give me the powerbutton back ?

The Fools!!!

Okay, I've been a bit harsh about the whole "userfriendly" thing but seeing as that's something apple pride themselves on and their hardware design is flawed in the extreme I think It's a valid point. No eject buttons on the case is as stupid as building a small fridge into the minitowers as a combined "beer while you work" feature and fanless cooling mechanism. I'd be into the beer thing though :D

ok we've gone over this before....
just name the products YOU don't like, don't say something is or isn't ugly.
I LOVE the clamshell Ibook, and I wish my G4 had blue/white colors so......

yuck, we have to use those annoying hockey pucks in the labs at school.

It is a toss up between Flower Power and Dalmation imacs. I did not hate the hockey puck as much as everybody else but the optical pro mouse is 100x better.

For those who thought that the flower power was ugly you have no clue.
I is very pleasant to look at and fits well in most rooms

I have two of them in an all boys elementary lab.
Most people really like them, they are refreshing
oh yeah I guess I forgot boys don't like flowers, only girls do

Ugly is a close decision between the 4400 and the 6410
do you even remember the 4400, no huh, now that is ugly
ugly = totally forgetable

as for apple choices of shapes and colors for ibooks and imacs
of course they were just shaking everyone up
life was getting way too boring.

What made the iMac radical and heavily discussed.
3 things
1) the color, which of course has no bearing on computers
2) the round mouse, which was almost useless
3) the big one, no floppy drive, ingenius for Apple
the drive must have been their biggest support/repair headache
and with the wave a the wand, its gone.

why did they do these three complelely unimportant steps?
to make the wintel world go mad.
before the iMac, PC magazines rarely mentioned any macs
but the imac they wrote two or three pages on.
all of it critical, why all the press? seemed very insecure to me

6 million imacs later, it was fun.
I bought 14 in all, two or three of each rev.
In fact I think I may have taken home the first iMac ever sold in Japan
cool! I still brag about that.
My favorite one, of course the flowerpower
600 mhz, cd-rw, firewire, excellent speakers
Thanks apple for brightening our day.
